Groomed artificial snow-covered lanes allow children to slide safely down the slope overlooking Beaver Lake. Les amis de la montagne attendants ensure the safety and smooth running of the activity.

Play an active role in the protection of Mount Royal’s beautiful environment as part of our Environmental Stewardship Program.
Pick up your cross-country skis and trail map at the Beaver Lake Pavilion before heading out on 22 km of marked trails on the mountain. Two adults must accompany each group of 15 skiers.

Les amis de la montagne offers groups of students a 2-hour introduction to cross-country skiing on the mountain. Accompanied by instructors certified by Ski de fond Québec, children learn basic cross-country skiing techniques while exploring and playing in the forest. Courses are offered during the week only, depending on snow conditions.

Children explore over 2 km of marked trails on snowshoes in Mount Royal Park. Snowshoe rental and trail maps are available at the Beaver Lake Pavilion.

Les amis de la montagne provides skate rental services so that groups of students of all ages can take advantage of the refrigerated 2,500 m2 ice skating rink next to the Beaver Lake Pavilion. Security is ensured by monitors hired by the City of Montréal.

Schoolchildren discover the secrets of the mountain as they walk along its paths. Games and sensory activities foster their contact with trees, animals and other elements of the natural environment.
Students discover the origin and evolution of snowshoeing and winter traditions on the mountain. They also learn about the adaptation of flora and fauna to the cold season.

Winter programs can be combined with an outdoor activity, such as snow tubing or skating, for an additional fee.
Students snowshoe through the forest looking for clues about animal presence in the winter. This original activity introduces children to a traditional sport and teaches them about how flora and fauna adapt to the cold.

This excursion introduces children to mountain snowshoeing on forest trails. Posing as photographers, students explore the forest as they look for clues about active animals in the winter. They also discover how fauna and flora adapt to the rigours of winter.

From the summit of the mountain to the shores of the St. Lawrence River, students travel through time, exploring the southern slope of Mount Royal and its rich 19th-century heritage before heading downtown for a glimpse of Montréal’s evolution over time. This excursion touches on architecture, public art, urban planning, geology, history and the culture of the city. The trajectory can be adapted to meet specific objectives.
Students explore the various habitats of the Mount Royal forest as they learn about their characteristics and wildlife. This scientific approach addresses the importance of ecosystems and their conservation.
Students compete as teams in a series of challenges. Observation, listening and co-operation skills are put to the test as groups search for the key to unlock the treasure chest. This exploratory excursion teaches children about Mount Royal’s history, geology and biodiversity in a playful manner. In-depth exploration of certain themes is possible upon request.
What animals live on the mountain? Students will be able to answer this question after hiking through the forest. They awaken their senses by observing tracks and habitats to fully understand the role living creatures play in the forest of Mount Royal.
